Council Member Brewer Questions DOT on Simplifying Floor Plans and Technical Reviews
Council Member Gale Brewer asks DOT if revocable consents can be replaced with a simpler permit process and how the agency coordinates with other city departments.
I like the commissioner's okay.
I can deal with him.
But I'll take Margaret any day of the week.
Um, first of all, I think we all want to know.
I know this is the general question, but what the process is long.
Are you do you have some suggestions that could make it shorter?
I know that in some cases when it's a perfect storm, it sounds like you can do it in weeks.
But are there some suggestions you would have to make it shorter?
And I guess picking up on the uh chairman is does revocable consent have to exist, or could we do a permit?
Okay.
So Michelle will comment a little bit more about revocable consent.
It's part of the charter, and there's a question on whether.
So when I t testify tonight at the charter, the mayor's charter, I will say get rid of the goddamn thing.
Okay, and that might entail a referendum, but I'm gonna have Michelle explain that because she understands it best.
But in terms of all of the other requirements, we would want to talk that over with the council and decide do we want to have some of the review periods be less, for example?
Those are things that we would want to talk about further.
And we're open.
We want to make it um as smooth as possible.
But Michelle, do you want to explain about it?
I said that thing.
I would very much like to explain.
I think a lot of this was um comes out of discussions from the city law department, so I don't think we'd get into too much detail right here.
Um but my understanding, because we were trying to streamline the process as much as possible, sort of going into the legislation.
My understanding is that the consent was the only option at the time.
I think we would be happy if there is another way to do this to talk about a different option.
I think if you're gonna go to the CRC, feel free to feel free.
Added it to my list already.
Um, but that's where we I think we'd be happy to talk more, but probably offline.
Okay.
Um, what other agencies do you work with?
Fire, sanitation, et cetera, and is there coordination?
