Chair Encarnación questions MOIA partnership with Mayor's Office of Mass Engagement
Encarnación asks about MOIA's partnership with the new $2.8M Mayor's Office of Mass Engagement. Ali describes close communication, sharing information about immigrants, and partnering on outreach efforts, noting they're in the same building.
So I know that you may not know similarly to the last one if it's there yet, but if we can continue advocacy for that.
And then lastly, I know the Mayor's Office of Mass Engagement was newly created this year.
It received $2.8 million in baseline funding, started in fiscal 2027.
Can you talk a little bit about your partnership with them, how you may use that office to help support some of the programming that you have?
Yeah, I'm happy to say that I just spoke to them again yesterday.
So we are very much in close communication and in lockstep in regards to us sharing information regarding immigrants, as well as supporting them with
some forward-facing information, coordination, and some outreach efforts that we've made.
I know that we've partnered with them on a couple of things already, and that partnership will continue.
We're also in the same building, so we see each other on the elevators as well, but we are working very closely with them and across teams, not just one, but the whole office as a whole.
I want to be in that elevator.
Come by anytime.
I'm going to talk and sprinkle some ideas.

So, you know, I know.
But, you know, it is extremely complex, as you know.
There's many layers to it, many subdivisions and answers that I really wanted to get in terms of the executive budget.
It's difficult to go through and make sure that we properly are supporting each and every aspect of it.
I'm going to continue to fight for as much as I can on my end, and I hope that internally you're fighting for our immigrant neighbors.
I know you are, and I'm actually really, really impressed with some of the stuff that I've seen so far and some of the answers to the questions.
