Councilmember Wong questions ACS headquarters relocation

I still have a ton of questions, but I'm going to pass it to Chair Lee so that our colleagues could ask some questions and come back to me on the second round.

We've been joined by Councilmember Ressler, Majority Leader Abreu, Councilmember Gutierrez, and we are going to start off with Councilmember Wong, followed by Councilmember Shulman.

I would like to start about the relocation of your headquarters.

When did the process begin and what is, do you have an update on that?

As the last sole employee at 150 Williams Street, I'll try to answer that question.

So sad.

We are, by the end of May, all staff, or by the end of the day today, all staff will have moved out of 150 Williams Street.

I got special exemption to stay through the hearing.

And by the end of June, we'll be fully out of 150 Williams Street.

Our new headquarters is at 110 Williams Street.

It's not fully complete.

Can you explain about the move?

Like what's, is there something, is there issues with the current headquarters?

Please talk about it.

So we had been in the current headquarters for about 30 years.

The new headquarters is a much more family, it has been intentionally developed to be more family friendly and to better meet the needs of the work we do.

So there are a lot of

family meeting rooms.

There are like a beautiful new playroom for kids.

The new office of advocacy is much more family friendly.

It was just developed in a different time.

And so I

don't know all the details.

I wasn't personally involved in the details to relocate, but have been part of some of the, like, it wasn't ULERP, but the city planning process.

So I know a bit about sort of the idea was that this new location would better meet our needs for staff and for families.
