Menin on small business outreach for new requirements
Menin asks about outreach to small businesses. Levine and Ortiz describe webinars, DCWP 101 events, VIP inspections, and direct outreach reaching thousands of businesses annually.
And what type of outreach is the agency doing, particularly for small businesses that might not be aware of the new requirements?
How do we make sure that they are aware?
What kind of outreach is happening in that regard?
This is a key priority for me.
I spoke to the National Supermarket Association yesterday about this.
We've held online seminars with small businesses.
We're also educating workers.
But business education is key.
We have a deputy commissioner for still affairs here who can add more on these efforts.
Thank you.
Madam Speaker, I think education is a core component of, I think, how DCP wants to approach our work.
As Commissioner mentioned, we don't play gotcha with our laws.
We want to make sure we're engaging with folks in an honest discussion.
Besides these webinars and what we call DCP 101 events with business associations and representatives, we also engage in direct outreach to businesses,
both through our community affairs team, but also our enforcement team that offers what we call VIP inspections where they offer any new business a free educational inspection to help them understand what their obligations are.
We reach thousands of businesses through these efforts across the year, the calendar year.
It's something we're looking to build upon.
