Brewer raises siren noise concerns with Bonsignore

New York City Council · Jun 1, 2026 · starts 5:12:00 · 57 sec

Brewer raises concerns about siren noise, particularly rumblers versus loud sirens, noting she lives between two hospitals. Bonsignore expresses willingness to discuss siren options, acknowledging it's a quality of life issue for residents near hospitals.

Gale A. Brewer

Thank you.

Gale A. Brewer

Maybe second round I want to ask about rumbler sirens versus

Gale A. Brewer

Loud sirens.

Gale A. Brewer

Thank you.

Lillian Bonsignore

So do you have a preference?

Lillian Bonsignore

There are some people that really like the rumblers.

Gale A. Brewer

Yes, I like the rumblers.

Gale A. Brewer

I live in between St.

Gale A. Brewer

Luke's and Roosevelt.

Lillian Bonsignore

Yeah.

Gale A. Brewer

And it's all day and all night.

Gale A. Brewer

And so I have complaints all day and all night.

Gale A. Brewer

So I'm just wondering, when I talk to the union, they like the loud sound.

Gale A. Brewer

But I think we should think about sirens.

Gale A. Brewer

I mean, I feel like bringing them all to City Hall Park and just blasting them all day long.

Gale A. Brewer

Because then somebody might do something about it.

Gale A. Brewer

I have bills to do it, but I could use some help in thinking about sirens.

Gale A. Brewer

Because, you know, we've got a quality of life issue that is, if you don't live near a hospital, you don't hear it.

Gale A. Brewer

I've got two hospitals.

Gale A. Brewer

Right next, in the middle.

Lillian Bonsignore

Understood.

Gale A. Brewer

So I would love siren discussion.

Lillian Bonsignore

We would love to have siren discussion.

Lillian Bonsignore

Thank you.

Joann Ariola

Okay.

Joann Ariola

Thank you, Councilmember Banks, and then we're going to go back to Chair.
