Chair Krishnan calls for $4.5M for 9/11 toxins investigation and restoring DOI headcount

Additionally, this morning, I joined Speaker Menin and Councilmember Brewer in calling for an additional $4.5 million

for DOI for the 9-11 investigation so that they have the resources they need to bring accountability and answers

to what the Julian administration knew about the air quality and presence of toxins following the horrific attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Having this funding in place will enable DOI to complete its investigation as to the knowledge of city government when it came to toxins in the air and will enable DOI to have the resources to release all the documents in regards to this investigation.

We need to restore the department's headcount and funding so that it can continue to provide comprehensive oversight without triaging, without pulling from other staff, without scrambling for resources.

An agency with the critical mission that this one has needs the tools to do its job.

I look forward to hearing about DOI's budget requests and working together to ensure a fully funded agency.

I know the Mamdani administration and City Hall share this goal, and I look forward to seeing it.
