Chair Schulman on healthcare accountability office coordination and reimbursement
Schulman asks about the office's coordination with other agencies. Martin cites work with OLR on the NYCHA PPO plan and healthcare economists analyzing reimbursement rate negotiations between NYU Presbyterian and Emblem Health, though no final analysis is available yet.
How is the office coordinating with other city agencies and health care stakeholders?
Yeah, we're working across City Hall to do the work of holding health care systems and payers accountable.
I'll give you just one concrete example.
We're working closely with OLR on an upcoming report looking at the NYCHA PPO plan and making sure that that
shift to this new PPO is done in a way that is not limiting access to care and is also decreasing costs.
Given ongoing reimbursement rate negotiations between New York Presbyterian and Emblem Health, what role has the Office of Healthcare Accountability played in assessing the impact of provider reimbursement rates on city healthcare costs?
Yeah, another really good question.
So we have our team of healthcare economists and policy analysts beginning to ingest that data and to analyze it.
To assess what the impacts are going to be for New Yorkers.
At the present moment, we don't have a final analysis to share on that, but we can circle back.
When is the, I know you said you're working on the report.
Do you have an estimate of when the report will be ready?
Yeah, we're aiming to get that by August 1st.
Okay.
And, you know, we can, I'm sure some of these questions here, because I want to skip to something else, will be answered in the report.
I want to ask you about...
Hold on one second.
Sorry, it's...
Just a couple of quick questions.
