Chair Lee on recruitment strategies and workforce partnerships
Commissioner Martin discusses recruitment strategies including social media, community outreach, and partnerships with Workforce One. Lee asks about partnering with CUNY and workforce development programs, and Martin confirms discussions with Commissioner Minaya's Workforce One Healthcare Career Center.
So in terms of recruitment and retention, what are some of the strategies that you're implementing to improve some of the more harder to fill positions around public health programming?
I'll tell you just right off the bat here.
This is one of the things top priority for me and is something that is top of mind We're applying every single tool we can to make sure we get the right people in this building We are hiring
so if council has folks that are individuals that we should be looking at we'd love to
see resumes and get people in the door.
We're pushing on all fronts, on social media, on comms, and also doing the work that we can do in communities to recruit people as well.
So this is a...
Top priority of making sure we get the right people.
And we also keep them here.
Great.
And then have you been partnering with other provider organizations as well as maybe, you know, the city's own programs, either through CUNY or workforce development type programs?
Have you been plugging into those?
Yeah, actually, we recently just met with Commissioner Kenny Minaya and began doing some of our strategic planning around how we might collaborate with their really incredible Workforce One centers.
Yes.
They have a Workforce One Healthcare Career Center, and I think there's a ton that we can do there.
You know, we are not going to recreate the wheel in terms of resume writing.
Job searching, but I do think that we have a role to play in helping to attract candidates and then working with Workforce One to get them ready for hiring.
Okay, and then I'm assuming the positions you have open could be for multiple different types of degrees, right?
So, I mean in terms of levels of degrees.
Absolutely.
They span from roles that don't require a college degree to some of the roles that we'll talk about today, which are highly specialized medical economist roles.
So the bottom line is we are hiring and we're looking for candidates.
Great.
