New York City Council · Jun 9, 2026 · starts 0:07:42 · 57 sec

Linda Lee notes the arrival of Deputy Speaker Williams, Majority Whip Hanks, and Councilmembers Brewer, Maloney, Wong, and Narcisse. She then opens questioning on property tax reform, noting promises by successive mayors have gone unfulfilled.

Linda Lee

Great.

Linda Lee

I forgot to mention, we've been joined by Deputy Speaker Williams, Majority Whip Hanks, Councilmember Brewer, Councilmember Maloney, and Councilmember Wong.

Linda Lee

And sorry, I was getting a little teary-eyed hearing you testify.

Linda Lee

I'm sorry, because I'm very proud of you.

Linda Lee

I just want to say that again, so I'm getting a little emotional.

Linda Lee

Sorry about that.

Linda Lee

But yes, very proud of you.

Linda Lee

Okay, property tax reform.

Linda Lee

With that, we'll get into questions.

Linda Lee

Oh boy, okay.

Linda Lee

So property tax reform, and this is something we've all talked about before, has been promised by mayor after mayor, but nothing has happened.

Linda Lee

And fundamentally, everyone believes that it needs to be reformed.

Linda Lee

And this obviously lies with your agency, and you have a lot of the key data and expertise that will be required to develop a workable

Linda Lee

solution.
