Commissioner Lee on DOF savings, property tax roll, and new administration initiatives
Lee details $22 million in FY26 and $29 million in FY27 savings, the final property tax roll of 1.2 million properties, the new Mayor's Office of Deed Theft Prevention, and new DOF leadership appointments including Sheriff Edwin Raymond.
Second, DOF has identified and implemented both operational and tax expenditure savings totaling more than $22 million in the current
fiscal year, and $29 million in fiscal year 27.
At a time of significant fiscal pressure, DOF remains focused on protecting the city's revenue base and ensuring that public dollars are used as intended.
Third, DOF issued a final property tax roll reflecting a valuation of more than 1.2 million properties and supporting the city's single largest source of revenue.
This work is highly technical, but underpins the property tax system and the services New Yorkers rely on every day.
We have also supported several major administration priorities since March.
Mayor Mamdani established the Mayor's Office of D-Def Protection, led by Peter White, the city's first office dedicated to coordinating prevention, outreach, enforcement, and victim support related to D-Def.
The new office will coordinate work of the City Records Office, the Sheriff's Office, and various other DOF divisions, while also providing new services and resources to vulnerable homeowners.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with City Hall, law enforcement, the courts, elected officials, and community partners.
The administration has also brought on new DOF leadership.
Omar Qadir has been appointed to lead the Mayor's Office of Pension Investments, MOPI.
Mayor Mamdani has also appointed Edwin Raymond as the new Sheriff of New York City.
The Sheriff's Office carries out critical civil and judicial enforcement responsibilities, and we're grateful for Sheriff Raymond as he assumes leadership of the office.
