Stevens questions status of division of maintenance responsibilities between DYCD and NYCHA
Stevens asks about previously discussed plans to let Cornerstone providers handle basic maintenance rather than waiting for NYCHA. Asherall describes the ticket system, provider communication channels, monthly director meetings, and relocation strategies for severe issues.
I just have a couple more questions, and I'll pass it off to my colleagues.
Council members, if you have questions, let me know so we can put you on the list.
You leaving?
Councilmember Joseph has joined us.
She not going nowhere, so.
NYCHA, DYCD, and OMB have previously discussed establishing a formal division of responsibilities that would allow cornerstone providers to address basic maintenance and repair needs rather than relying on NYCHA's...
Untangible wait times.
Providers have asked that DYCD ratify this division of responsibility and modify their budgets to ensure that they are not forced to secure resources from programming to cover basic maintenance.
What is the current status of this discussion?
I hate to say, to repeat that question.
If you need me to repeat that, I can.
Yes, can you please?
I'm sorry.
NYCHA, DYCD, and OMB have previously discussed in establishing a formal division of responsibility that would allow cornerstone providers to address basic maintenance and repair needs rather than relying on NYCHA's long wait times.
And so I guess it's what you were talking about, the database that you guys are using and trying to assess it.
Where are you guys at with that of like trying to have folks being able to...
Get their stuff fixed without going through the night show?
Yeah, we have, so our team, we have program managers, we have deputy directors, and so our providers are like, have us on speed dial, and so they do reach out to us regularly if there's something that
needs to be addressed or it's impacting program, and we try to be intentional and strategic about if necessary, like, and
if I miss anything, please chime in, but we try to be intentional and strategic if there is
a facility repair or issue that is affecting programming, we quickly activate and work with our other partners, our New York City public schools, to secure
a neighboring school across in the area that the families can relocate to minimize disruption of services, depending on the severity.
But our CBOs regularly communicate.
We have monthly director meetings, and so we use those spaces for them to have a space to share any feedback.
And we've also...
We've also implemented, like, I don't want to say customer service satisfaction, sorry, but surveys.
To kind of like assess kind of like what we're hearing from programs.
Ms.
Harris, is there anything?
Yeah, okay.
It's on.
Oh, no.
Okay, well, you should turn it back off then.
Okay.
Because then you'll have a hot mic.
Okay, great.
