Hudson questions DSS on inter-agency coordination for LGBTQ+ housing

New York City Council · Jun 24, 2026 · starts 0:52:06 · 1 min 17 sec

Hudson asks how DSS coordinates with other agencies. Dalton describes collaboration with HPD, NYCHA, and aging services, noting good advocacy from mayoral agencies to ensure LGBTQ+ clients access needed resources.

Crystal Hudson

I'm going to ask questions of DSS.

Crystal Hudson

So how does DSS coordinate with other city agencies to meet the needs of homeless and housing insecure LGBTQ plus individuals?

Erin Dalton

Thank you for the question.

Erin Dalton

And as you know, Chair Hudson and others probably know, I've been here just a couple of months, and so it's a great opportunity for me to learn a little bit more, deepen my understanding of the work we do in this area.

Erin Dalton

This one I can take, but I will probably rely on my colleagues here, probably especially Deputy Commissioner Russell for detailed questions.

Erin Dalton

But yes, when it comes to...

Erin Dalton

Addressing the issues of housing insecurity for this population.

Erin Dalton

We certainly work across the team who is here on the dais.

Erin Dalton

We also work with our partners in housing like HPD and NYCHA.

Erin Dalton

And so in addition for special populations like older adults, we work with our partners in aging and so on.

Erin Dalton

So I think there's a good amount of collaboration and I think a good amount of advocacy from the mayor's agencies and departments to ensure that the clients that they're working with are treated well and get the access to the resources they need in our systems.

Crystal Hudson

Thank you.
