New York City Council · Jun 25, 2026 · starts 1:21:41 · 1 min 30 sec

Brooks-Powers asks how much of the $50 million is available to spend. Logan explains the budget allocation process and says they are drawing down available funds, offering to provide full budget details.

Selvena N. Brooks-Powers

So how much of the $50 million is there to be spent now?

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

The assigned council budget is approximately...

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

Give me one second.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

Sorry, I'm looking.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

My CFO was here, and I just wanted to make sure because those numbers are changed.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

But I will get you the full budget for them.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

But we are pulling down from the funds that are available.

Selvena N. Brooks-Powers

And why is it not the complete 50?

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

The allocated budget has to match what is the actual approved and assigned budget.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

So each budget has the budget line of the personnel and then the OTPs budget that can be spent.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

So we will draw down from that budget and spend it.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

So things like training are now added in so that the assigned council plan members can go to the trainings with the 18B plan attorney so that they can understand the needs and also that they can deliver training.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

So we started making sure that the assigned council plan could deliver their own trainings as well as working with indigent defense providers in the portfolio where they are able to have.

Member of the Public - Deanna Logan

Plan members attend trainings that are being offered by other provider organizations as well.

Thank you.
