Abreu questions DOT on Intro 894 implementation cost
Abreu asks about anticipated costs for implementing Intro 894. Craven says there are no anticipated costs and explains DOT is reviewing rules for both sidewalk and roadway winterization to create consistent standards, including siding, wind protection, and snow load requirements.
Regarding Intro 894, I know that you're mostly supportive, but I wanted to ask, how much does DOT anticipate it would cost to implement Intro 894?
I don't know that there are any anticipated costs.
I think we just say, you know, as I'm sure you know, we're having larger negotiations with the council about other outdoor dining bills, including winterization of roadway.
And something that we're doing right now is like we're taking a hard look at our rules to figure out what restaurants would need to do on the roadway to be able to winterize their setups without going into like a full scale shed situation like we had in the pandemic.
And I think we want to take a look at this for sidewalks as well and maybe treat the two similarly so we can have consistent standards for both.
