Public testimony: Sophia Beckles, 30-year member, supports senior housing
Sophia Beckles, a member for nearly 30 years, testifies in support. She describes how the masjid helped raise and educate her children and grandchildren, participated in community events, and served both Muslim and non-Muslim members. She supports the senior housing project as a benefit to community elders who have been pillars of the community.
As-salamu alaykum.
Can you hear me?
Yes, we can, Sophia.
You may begin.
Good morning.
My name is Sophia Beckles.
I wanted to just take some time to express my...
My feelings about Masjid Khalifa, I've been a member for nearly 30 years.
The Masjid has helped me raise and educate my children.
We continue to worship there, my children, my new grandchildren.
We participated in many community events throughout the years.
Khalifa has offered support and service to both Muslim and non-Muslim members of our community.
I believe that this new project will just follow in that
that thread of expansion to support the community, especially with the new senior housing project, which I and my family are in agreement with.
You know, we are looking forward to the housing that will benefit our seniors.
Who has been the pillars of our community.
They've helped me raise my children as well.
And it's just an overall benefit to the community and the families.
So I just wanted to just add that.
My apologies for my earlier technological issues.
Thank you so much.
No problem.
