Brewer compares NYC elected salaries to other cities and inflation
Brewer notes NYC elected official salaries have failed to keep pace with inflation and lag behind legislators in LA, Chicago, and Philadelphia, all of which have smaller budgets and workforces. She highlights that LA's council is even stronger than its mayor.
Over that time, salaries of New York elected officials have failed to keep pace with inflation, according to the commission, or even with the salaries of elected officials across the country.
Legislators in other cities like L.A., Chicago, and Philly all make more than we do, and all those cities have significantly smaller budgets.
And oversee much smaller workforces, although in LA I know it's stronger than the mayor.
