Council Member Epstein questions DOT on water fountains and public restrooms

I know we talked about long-term public improvements.

We talked about putting in publicly available water fountains, putting in a public bathroom.

And then I know this is a little further down the pike.

I'm wondering kind of what DOT's commitment into those public improvements are and where you see this happening in the context of the work that we're doing in the area.

Those are all important elements for a healthy, thriving space.

And so we are working with our colleagues at Department of Design and Construction to integrate public drinking fountains, water bottle filling stations into the capital design.

And we're currently in conversations with our colleagues in a few city agencies about the ability to provide a public restroom.

So we'll be exploring those elements.

There are a lot of technical constraints to those, but things that we're in conversation with sibling agencies about.

Yeah, I just want to make sure the DOT is committed to trying to make that happen.
