Weidenhoff outlines long-term capital redesign plans for corridor
Weidenhoff describes the separate but interrelated capital street reconstruction: the southern portion (21st-27th) is in final design with community workshops planned for fall, featuring full reconstruction with utility connections. The northern portion (27th to Herald Square) is in scoping with DDC and will go through public engagement and Public Design Commission review.

I wanted to give a brief overview of some of the longer term and really exciting changes coming to the corridor.
So separate from the major concession, but very interrelated, is the city's investment in a full street reconstruction and really major redesign of this corridor.
We've been designing the kind of southern portion of the district for quite some time.
We're now in final design and excited to get out to the community for workshops and present to the community board for the southern portion of the section later this fall.
Next slide, you can see this southern section, 21st to 27th Street, where we'll be kind of fully reconstructing the street.
The curbs will go away, the paint and gravel will go away, and we'll have a fully transformed, greener,
more vibrant public space that will also have important things like utility connections, which will allow the partners to manage the space and have thriving events as well.
And then the last slide shows the future capital phases.
27th Street all the way up to the north, which is currently in scoping with our colleagues at the Department of Design and Construction.
And that will also go through a robust public engagement process, public workshops, community board, and ultimately the Public Design Commission for review.
