Abreu questions why OMB projects less than 2021 program

New York City Council · Aug 11, 2026 · starts 0:07:31 · 34 sec

Abreu notes the 2021 amnesty program brought in over $43 million but OMB only projects $25 million for this program. Lee says the $25 million is an initial projection that will be updated as results come in, working with OMB.

Shaun Abreu

Thank you.

Shaun Abreu

OMB's last preliminary plan included $25 million in fiscal 2027 as anticipated revenue from the amnesty program.

Shaun Abreu

Considering the prior amnesty program brought over $43 million in additional revenues back in 2021, why do you think OMB expects less than the prior program revenues?

Richard Lee

The $25 million was a projection at the end of adoption.

Richard Lee

As we go through the program and see results and successes, we will update the budget as we get along through the rest of the year, working in conjunction with OMB.
