Welcome to the meeting of the Subcommittee on Landmarks, Public Siting, Resiliency, and Disposition.
I'm Councilmember Christopher-Marte and the chair of the subcommittee.
I'm joined today by my colleagues, Councilmember Majority Whip Hanks, Councilmember Nurse, and Councilmember Thomas Henry.
Today's meeting is being held in hybrid format.
On today's agenda, we have one vote for an application on the subcommittee heard last month.
Today we'll be voting on LU 114 for Queen CD2 walk to park acquisition and site selection, which is an application by the Department of Parks and Recreation for approval
of the city acquisition and site selection of 31 privately owned sites for future park development in Queens Community District 2.
This proposal seeks to create new parkland and to increase access to open space resources for neighborhoods of Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, Blissville, and West Maspeth, located in Councilmember Wan and Krishna districts.
Approval of this application will facilitate greater opportunities for DPR to potentially acquire private
property and develop a new public new parkland that would help close the walk to Park Gap in Queens CD2.
The local council members are supportive of this application.
