Council Member Zhuang on older adult outreach and SCHE tax exemption
Council Member Zhuang introduces Intro 1019 requiring city agencies to study which platforms older adults use for information, noting Chinese American seniors use WeChat where agencies don't advertise. She also introduces a resolution for SCHE property tax exemption and recognizes her summer interns.

Today I'm proud to introduce Intro 1019 to require NYC agents to study which platform are most frequently used by different groups of older adults and create a plan to advertising on them.
Currently, New York City agencies use many platforms to connect with older adults.
However, I do not know whether older adults from different
use those platforms.
For example, many Chinese American older adults using WeChat, on which agency do not, and I never see they do any advertising there, and I see they have all the
beautiful Chinese translation in Facebook, which is older adults are not there.
In addition, many older adults don't use digital platforms at all, and we need more data on
what non-digital resources they rely on to get information.
Second, I have a resolution to ask the state to authorize the city of New York to provide a full exemption from real estate taxation to homeowners eligible to
S-C-H-E, so they can stay in their homes and age in place.
So our older adults able to pay less tax.
Also, I want to give a shout out to three young, wonderful ladies who follow me today.
Three of them want to be lawyers, and they are my summer interns.
