Speaker Menin: James Baldwin Day resolution and Certification of No Harassment overview
Speaker Menin previews Resolution 218 by Council Member Hudson declaring August 2 as James Baldwin Day, and Introduction 839A by Council Member Pierina Sanchez making the Certification of No Harassment pilot program permanent.
Today, we'll also vote on the following pieces of legislation.
Resolution 218, sponsored by Councilmember Crystal Hudson, would declare August 2nd annually as James Baldwin Day in the City of New York to honor his legacy as a groundbreaking essayist, novelist, playwright,
poet, and civil rights activist who fought racial and sexual discrimination with candor, sensitivity, and lasting influence.

Introduction 839A, sponsored by Councilmember Pierina-Ana-Sanchez, would make the certification of no harassment pilot program permanent with a new program list published by the Department of
housing preservation and development every three years beginning on April 15th, 2027.
