So I want to thank the speaker for advancing this package, this group act package, my bill 864.
We talk about the issue of dog waste.
People may not know about New York City dogs produce about 500,000 pounds of dog waste a day.
500,000 pounds of dog waste a day.
So, you know, we've seen, as Council Member Hanif talked about during the storm this year, a surge in dog waste complaints, 300 from 301 complaints.
You know, that's why this good gap came together.
For us, this opportunity to divert dog waste from landfills is a really important opportunity.
If we get every dog run to have their own diversion program, not only do we divert a lot of this dog waste because a lot of people use these dog runs, but we reduce methane gas, greenhouse gases in our environment.
So it's a lot of wins of making sure we reduce our landfill.
We empower people in dog runs to effectuate a plan, and we provide...
provide better soil for New York.
It's a win-win all around.
I really would applaud the speaker, the advocates, and my colleagues to make this happen.
