Thor Thors testifies on privacy concerns and building-wide list exposure
Thor Thors, a co-op owner, shares that his entire building was listed because one penthouse unit exceeded the value threshold. He describes the list as an invasion of privacy and characterizes the rollout as reflecting socialist policies by the administration.
Hi, my name is Tor Tors.
I'm a lifelong New Yorker.
Thank you for holding this hearing.
I'm not speaking on behalf of any organization, simply myself.
I am a co-op owner here in New York.
And I just want to share what the rollout of this tax meant to me personally.
If any of you live in co-ops, you know that when you get assessments, as this woman said, we...
It can be very disruptive to your economic situation.
And that goes for all different types of co-op owners.
Most of the co-ops in my building do not fall in the range of over a million dollars as
judged by the finance department.
However, there is one that does.
It's a penthouse.
It's three combined apartments.
So I believe as a result of that one penthouse being, our whole building was on the list.
And I was able to personally download and see
the alleged value of everybody's apartment.
And, you know, what it really feels to me like is it's the administration or the powers that be saying, we see you, you know, we see the value of the apartment.
We're willing to expose you.
We're willing to tell everyone how much your apartment is worth.
And I believe it's a direct result of the policies of this administration.
I think they've said as much.
I'm not really asking questions.
That's what I believe that it comes from.
Socialist policies from a socialist administration that is manifested in the rollout of this very unfortunate doxing.
