Dinowitz recounts the events and lasting impact of September 11, 2001
Dinowitz recounts the September 11 attacks—19 hijackers, four planes, nearly 3,000 killed, 6,000 injured—and describes how the events transformed American attitudes about safety, privacy, and global affairs, with impacts still felt in New York City today.
On that day in 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial planes, deliberately crashing two of the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center here in New York City, a less than 10 minute walk from where we are now.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed and more than 6,000 others were injured, not to mention the countless
less others who have died from 9-11 related illnesses.
The events of 9-11 transformed Americans'attitudes about safety, privacy, and our nation's role in global affairs,
the impacts of which are still felt today, including again here in New York City where survivors, first responders, residents, and family members and neighbors continue to deal with the effects of that horrific day.
