Chair Sanchez follow-up with Manley on J51 unit count and Rico on CHAP exclusions
Sanchez asks Manley for the full universe of units that could benefit from J51 expansion beyond the 310,000 with Local Law 97 limits. Manley agrees to research. Sanchez asks Rico about the administration's response on CHAP exclusions; Rico says they are unsatisfied and want buildings housing domestic violence survivors to be eligible.
Thank you.
Two quick follow-up questions.
Danielle, you mentioned 300,000 to 350,000 units within co-ops and condos that could benefit from the J51 expansion.
Do you have an estimate for the full universe of number of units that could benefit from this expansion?
I don't.
Personally have the number outside of those with local law 97 carbon emissions limits, but I could look, I could probably get that for you, but I'm not, I'm not sure today.
No problem.
Would help me with, you know, just making sure that my colleagues all sign on and we can get this passed as soon as possible.
Thank you.
And then my question for New Destiny is, what did you think of the administration's response on why regulatory agreement buildings were carved out of the CHAP program?
We're not satisfied with that response.
We think that, for example, New Destiny houses many EHV recipients, for example, and we can't offer, or those tenants couldn't use CHAP, for example, to replace their EHV because
all of our buildings, our 11 buildings, are excluded from that.
We would love the opportunity to have this reconsidered so that, you know, our buildings that are housing domestic violence survivors can be eligible for CHAP.
All right.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your participation.
Okay, the next panel is going to be Zach Steinberg, Edmundo Alex Gomez, and Mary Astrid Neusbaumer.
And if you're here, Amalia de la Iglesia.
Whoever is ready can begin.
