Chair Brewer raises vendor partnership concerns and thanks staff
Brewer, former Technology Committee chair, notes OTI's reliance on private companies for tech issues and wants to know how the Motorola partnership worked or failed. She thanks Government Operations Committee staff and her office staff, and recognizes Council Members Morano and Zhuang.
I'm concerned that the mayor apparently failed to immediately inform the public about the disruption in 911 services.
Some of us learned about it from the press.
I actually got calls from local precincts who must know people in the Bronx.
And knew something was wrong.
While the mayor has said that this is his first order of business, and I know it is, to resolve the call system, and that is his focus,
he can say that because I know he has a great staff and they are going to figure this out so it does not happen again.
Having been chair of the Technology Committee 100 years ago, when I was in the council previously, another era, I know that OTI, or then DOT, relied so many times on private companies for many tech issues.
In this case, I want to know how that partnership worked or did not work.
I'd like to thank the following council staff for their work on this hearing.
From the Government Operations Committee, Johari Frazier, Eric Cohen, and Sahid Hamid, and from my office, Cynthia Hornick, and everybody who has put this hearing together.
And I'll turn it back to Chair De La Rosa.
I want to also mention that Council Members Morano and Zhuang are here.
Thank you.
