Council Member Feliz questions on Crotona Parkway mall shadows
Feliz asks about shadows on Crotona Parkway malls. Environmental consultant Patrick Blanchfield confirms some shadows but says the extent and duration are minimal and would not rise to a significant impact.
So I was just sharing with the chair, you know, Councilmember Felice, we have been in touch with Green Thumb, which runs the Hornaday Community Garden across the street from the Sojourner Truth site.
And we've agreed, you know, upon the approval of this project that we would fund a redesign of that garden to address concerns about shadows.
And so we've had very productive conversations with them.
They're excited about the opportunity to do that because, you know, we wouldn't want to have that.
negative impacts, and they're excited about the potential of residents, more residents, becoming members of the garden as well.
So we've certainly had conversation.
Okay, good.
What about the Cortona Parkway malls, the green strip that runs right in front of the area of Southern Boulevard?
Would this cast a shadow on that?
And if yes, how much?
Patrick, do you want to?
Yes.
So the project would cast shadows, some shadows on the Cortona Park malls, but the extent and the duration is minimal, such that it wouldn't really rise to any kind of significance,
but it would cast a little bit of shadow, but nothing that would...
Nothing that would rise to a significant impact.
Okay.
