Public testimony: Melissa Guan shows balcony view of low-rise neighborhood context
Melissa Guan, a homeowner at 2128 45th Road, shows her balcony view via camera demonstrating the low-rise character of the block. She points out the TD Bank lot, the 11-story Prime building on Jackson Avenue, and the four-to-five story buildings that make up the immediate neighborhood.
Melissa Guan.
Hi, everybody.
Can you hear me?
This is Melissa.
Yes, we can hear you.
You may begin.
Yeah, this is Melissa Guan.
I live in 21, 28, 45th Road, which is the part that was not addressed during this discussion that our building is right to the north of this plant.
And I'm actually on my balcony right now.
I'll just quickly show everybody how it looks like on my balcony.
So this is our balcony.
This is our building.
Every building adjacent to us, there's six exact buildings like ours.
And that one over there is the older building that is shorter.
This is the 11-story building.
See how tall it is?
That is a prime.
And then going this way,
You can see everybody in this block is a low rise and everybody have a backyard.
And this is our building.
This is a four floor tall.
The whole building, including that new building, building the next block is only five stories.
Everybody here is four or five stories.
And if you can see the very tall building that's cited by the developer,
Over there,
That is across the street in that corner.
This whole building, this whole block is low rise.
You can see that's the PS3.
Now you have a clear view of this whole block.
That is not our block.
The prime building that's above Trader Joe's, you can see that's 11th story.
That's not our block.
That belongs to the Jackson Avenue.
So I think speaking about this with this picture view, if you guys can see, I think it's more powerful than anything I say other than that.
We are all invested families in this neighborhood.
Many of these buildings are not renters.
Like we cannot easily move away because there's a building going to be built right in front of my face right here at this TD lot.
You can see this is the TD lot right here.
We're not moving away.
We invested our life savings in this building.
The same with all the six buildings, each have six units.
And all the other neighborhoods were different than our building, but it's of the same height.
That's my testimony.
