Council Member Paladino introduces bills on micromobility crash reporting and animal testing resolution
Vickie Paladino introduces Intro 1057/1052 requiring NYPD and DOT to collect and publicly report detailed data on micromobility device crashes, and Resolution 636 calling on New York State regarding animal testing. She also compliments Council Member Lee's dress.
Councilor Palladino, followed by Banks.
Thank you.
I'd like today to introduce number 1057, 1052, a local law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York in relation to reporting data
about micromobility device crashes.
New Yorkers have a right to know where and how crashes are evolving.
E-bikes, e-scooters, and other micromobility devices are occurring in our city every day.
We cannot effectively address a public safety problem if we do not have the accurate and comprehensive information about it.
This legislation will bring much-needed transparency and accountability to the micromobility crash reporting.
It will require the NYPD and the DOT to collect and publicly report detailed information about crashes involving
these devices, including injuries, fatalities, locations, times, and the specific type of class of that device that was involved.
For years, our community has been in a state of crisis.
have raised legitimate concerns about the dangers posed by reckless operation of e-bikes and scooters, particularly to pedestrians, seniors, and children, and people with disabilities.
We need facts, not assumptions, to understand the scope of the problem and determine where enforcement and other safety measures are most urgently needed.
Public safety must come first.
If we are serious about making our streets safer, we need to know exactly what is happening on them.
This bill is an important step towards greater transparency, accountability, and safety for every New Yorker.
I would like you all to please sign on to this.
Next, I want to introduce Resolution 636, calling upon New York State to...
I'll give you an extra five seconds, ten seconds.
Ten seconds?
I can't ever do anything in ten seconds.
Look it up.
It's about animal testing and how serious this is.
It's, once again, intro 636.
Don't take this lightly.
Okay, take a look at that.
How's that?
Five seconds?
Thank you, Council Member.
Oh, wait, one more thing.
Sorry, Council Member, I have to move.
Can I make a compliment?
Last night, Linda Lee.
I have to tell you, your dress was spectacular.
Thank you.
Thank you, Council.
Councilmember.
