Speaker Menin commemorates 9/11 anniversary and calls moment of silence
Speaker Julie Menin reflects on tomorrow's 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, honoring the 2,977 people murdered that day as heroes, and asks the chamber for a moment of silence in their honor.
We will now have communication from Speaker Julie-Menin.
Okay, good afternoon.
I got to read the vote.
My apologies, Madam Speaker.
Okay.
Today's land use call-ups are adopted by a vote of 49 in the affirmative and zero in the negative.
Okay.
All right.
Can I just ask everyone to take a seat?
Just thank you so much.
So tomorrow, New York and the nation will, of course, commemorate 25 years since September 11, 2001.
And tomorrow, we will honor the memories of the 2,977 people who were murdered that day.
They were our first responders, our office workers, our fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers.
They were, in one word, our heroes.
So I now am asking for a moment of silence in their honor.
Thank you.
