Brooke Belosky testifies on street safety for disability community
Brooke Belosky, disability advocate and 504 Dems member, testifies about unsafe streets for the disability community near 250 Broadway, where double-parked delivery trucks block Access-A-Ride vehicles. She advocates for reintroducing legislation to hold commercial fleets accountable.
This is Brooke Belosky, my beautiful daughter, and a disability advocate and a lifetime member of the 504 Dems.
Hi, thank you so much, Chairman, for letting me testify today.
I'd like to speak about 1141, the reintroduction, and making the streets safer for the disability community.
I work very closely with the disability community and accessorized users.
And the streets are not safe.
especially in front of 250 Broadway.
They are not able to get into their vehicle safely because their trucks double parked, unfortunately, in the bus lane, slowing the buses down, as well as blocking Accessoride users from getting into their vehicles safely.
And this is just not fair that
UPS, Amazon, FedEx are getting discounts in this program, and Accessoride users are not able to get into their vans and vehicles safely, while these multi-billion dollar companies are getting discounts and the average New Yorkers are not.
So with the reintroduction of 1141, we'd like to work closely with you to get the streets safer for all New Yorkers.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your testimony.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
We're going to wait one more minute.
There's one person who would like to testify and is having some technology issues, so we're just going to give them one minute.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Thank you.
Go ahead.
All right.
