Chair Feliz closing remarks on progress and remaining challenges
Feliz closes the NYPD testimony portion, thanking officers for their work, noting progress on murders, shootings, burglaries, and robberies, while acknowledging remaining challenges in felony assaults, grand larceny auto, and other categories compared to pre-pandemic levels.
All right, so I think that concludes this part of the hearing.
I want to thank you all for your time.
Also want to thank our police department for all the work that you do on the issue of public safety.
Not easy work.
Police officers are in our communities.
Every day at all hours, even during the holidays, away from their family, working to keep New Yorkers safe.
Our city is very thankful for that.
Also, we've made a lot of progress.
Again, want to make sure that it doesn't get, you know, we don't forget about that.
Progress on murders, shootings, burglaries, and robberies are also at near historic lows.
There's a lot of work that we have to do, though, to make sure that the other crime categories get back to the pre-pandemic levels.
Felony assaults stand out the most, but also other grand larceny involving a vehicle and many others.
So you have to afford to working together on that.
And look forward to having this conversation before the end of every year, talking about what's going well and also areas that need attention.
Thank you so much.
And yeah, thank you.
