Council Member Santosuosso questions Khan on operational challenges of Intro 408 content matching system
Kayla Santosuosso asks about anticipated operational challenges if SBS were required to create a content matching system. Khan emphasizes the need for clear expectations, guardrails, and careful program design, and expresses willingness to work with the bill sponsor.
I'll now turn it over to Councilmember Santosuoso.
Thank you, Chair, and thank you, Mr.
Kahn, for your testimony and for being with us and for coming to Bay Ridge with the commissioner to announce the grants for the bids, which was much appreciated.
Sticking with...
Sticking with the social media bill 408 that's in front of us, can you speak a little bit to some of the operational challenges that you anticipate if SBS were required to create this content matching creation system?
Yeah, so we just want to make sure in any program and service that we're deploying and offering at the agency that it's clear what the expectations would be of the people that are providing said service and the consumers of that service.
And we also want to make sure that even if it's an emerging area that is important, the guardrails are equally as important and should not be loosened in any way.
And so just wanting to ensure and would love to work with Bill Sponsor and Council on crafting expansions to any social media offerings that we have at the agency in ways that allows us to make them as responsible as possible.
And we know that would be in complete alignment with members of the council as well.
