Caban Q&A: VetConnect implementation schedule request

New York City Council · Sep 18, 2026 · starts 1:10:25 · 1 min 4 sec

Caban requests a written implementation schedule for each VetConnect Comptroller recommendation, with responsible persons and completion dates. Mata commits to providing it, noting she can speak to actions under her tenure but not pre-existing procurement decisions.

Tiffany L. Cabán

Thank you, Council Member Wilson.

Tiffany L. Cabán

Just to close the loop on the VetConnect recommendations from the controller's report that we were alluding to earlier,

Tiffany L. Cabán

could you provide the committee with a written implementation schedule identifying each recommendation, the person responsible, and the expected completion date?

Tiffany L. Cabán

When you can.

Yesenia Mata

Absolutely.

Yesenia Mata

As an agency, again, I cannot speak on what predated me as a commissioner, but I can speak on the recommendations that the comptroller has indicated and what we're doing.

Yesenia Mata

To implement those recommendations, but also what we have been doing, the changes within the agency, so we can follow up on that and keep you up to date.

Tiffany L. Cabán

Yeah, as somebody that's constantly answering for my predecessor's doings, I totally empathize.

Tiffany L. Cabán

You emphasize that VetConnect is only one pathway to DVS.

Tiffany L. Cabán

Veterans can also reach you by phone, email, through resource centers, and at community events, and certainly that's important.
