DOF adds info on outreach unit application numbers
Jeffrey Shear adds that DOF's outreach unit, which conducts over 220 events annually, received over 1,200 SCRIE/DRIE applications in fiscal year 2026, up from 900 in fiscal year 2024, often completing applications directly with citizens at events.
Excuse me, I just wanted to add one thing to many things that Ryan had to say, is regarding the, there was some discussion about referrals and applications, so I did want to
add that our outreach unit, which partners very
very frequently with the Department for the Aging, does assist
citizens in the field to complete their applications and oftentimes takes the applications directly from them so they do not have to submit them
online or through the mail and the number of applications that our outreach unit receive for scree entry
was over 1,200 in fiscal year 26.
That's an increase from the 900 that were received in fiscal year 24.
Sorry, can you repeat that again?
Because that actually leads into the question I wanted to ask anyway.
Yes.
So DOF's outreach unit, which works very closely with the Department for the Aging and conducts over 220 events a year,
at which screen injury is at the top of the agenda.
They often assist
citizens with completing their applications at the outreach event at the senior center or we are often working with council members and elected officials so at their offices
so in fiscal year 26 that outreach staff received over 1200
screen injury applications for us to process.
And that's an increase from fiscal year 24, where the number was 900 applications.
Okay, and do you mind sharing with us what the breakdown of those were?
I do not have the breakdown.
I can try to get back to you with that.
Okay.
