Hanif asks about DFTA outreach beyond OAC network
Hanif asks how DFTA reaches older adults outside the older adult center network, and Murray discusses community partnerships, subway campaigns on ageism and caregiving, and plans to proactively reach people entering their 60s.
I know DIFTA does a lot of work with their OACs, which are multilingual and all of that.
And just in terms of outreach, more for the DIFTA purposes, because I know one of the things we always talk about
with current previous commissioners is that we know there are a certain number of folks that are coming to the OACs, but what about the seniors and older adults outside of that network, and how do we draw them in more?
Because we know there are so many more.
that need to come into the mix.
And so I think to Councilmember Joann's point earlier, I think what does that sort of look like?
Because we know the overall numbers and demographics of the city, but I feel like there's so much more we could be doing.
And so how do we, what are we doing there?
Yeah, I think as we've shared before, that's why it's so important to be present in community, not at our centers as well as on social.
We will be looking at expanding that reach.
The partnerships that our older adult centers have in their community are critical.
That's one of the channels.
And, of course, as we've shared before, that is why we've launched campaigns based on various issues, whether it was our subway campaigns on ageism and caregiving and so on.
Those are many of the channels that we're using.
So much more to be done there.
We agree with you.
You know, we absolutely will be focused on outreach.
We are also planning to go directly to folks as they're entering in to the 60 realm and making sure we reach folks.

The team is telling me that the meeting is actually coming up.
So June 25th was the last one for the full executive cabinet, but we have liaison meetings that are monthly, actually.
So that's what I was thinking about.
Liaisons meet monthly, and it's much more frequent.
And we bring our proposals and project updates to the executive cabinet with commissioners and other representatives.
So the last meeting was June 25th, and for this quarter, the meeting is September 28th.
It's coming up.
So we can, again, follow up with you on additional dates for meetings the rest of the year.
