Dinowitz asks how HEAT rubrics are developed and whether DOE Central approves them
Dinowitz asks about assessment criteria and whether rubrics go through DOE. Prayor says rubrics are teacher-created using standards and reviewed with academic policy, and Dinowitz confirms they are approved by DOE Central.
I appreciate that.
I appreciate those examples.
Did you develop, now in terms of assessment, right, maintaining the rigor.
One, those are all high schoolers who are doing this?
Yes, 11th graders and 12th graders.
11Th graders.
And how are the rubrics?
Or the assessment criteria developed, are those approved by you?
Are those approved or reviewed or audited by the DOE Central?
Yes, we do work with academic policy.
Also, they're teacher-created.
We use the standards, of course.
And then the assessments is what they publish, what the students actually do to show that they demonstrated the learning.
But let's, because now we're talking about, you know, the students in Brooklyn South held to the same rigorous standards as students in the Bronx, Queens, wherever.
And so I just, I, I, I,
I want to make sure it's a yes that whatever rubric is being used to assess the rigor of those assignments and experiences, they go through the DOE and are approved by DOE Central.
I would say yes, because that's what we do.
Correct.
Okay.
They work closely with us.
So that's great.
That's great.
