Dinowitz says affinity partners are ready but need DOE structure and investment
Dinowitz concludes the panel is ready to work but DOE is not leveraging their skills enough. AJ Rathmann-Noonan says educators are willing to share and points to DOE staff connected to consortium schools. Laura Evangelista says schools hosted visitations before and will again.
and the plans that have to happen to respond to those patterns.
So I'm seeing a panel of people who stand ready to work.
With the DOE, who are not being, whose skills and experience are not being leveraged enough,
and who also, in order to support that, need the DOE to recognize some of the kind of special work that the Affinity Network does, and I guess rate the schools,
on that or value that sort of work as part of their quality review, let's say.
I mean, I think the other important thing to say is that the educators in our schools are really
passionate about the work that they do and really willing to share.
And I think as we wait for New York City public schools to figure out what the build out of the transition is going to look like and how they're going to think about how classroom instruction will change and sort of how high school look different, there are people who are ready to be tapped.
There were multiple people on this panel from New York City Public Schools today that are connected to our schools, right, including Alan Chang, including Delia Bebe.
Like, these are people that know our work, and they know we're ready to help.
And so I think it'll come eventually.
And I think historically, when there have been, like you alluded to, the programs in the past about the visitations, inter-visitations, when we look at all the previous structures, Showcase, Learning Partners,
Lighthouse, I mean, overwhelmingly, our schools were willing to host folks during those and again are willing to do it again.
Yeah.
But as I kind of mentioned towards the end, it takes the structure from the DOE and it takes investment and money, right?
Like the support investment, the money investment, it takes all that.
But it's good to know that we have a whole network of partners.
And we're going to keep making sure the DOE knows it and acts on it.
I'd like to thank this panel for their testimony today.
