Dinowitz says communication needs work and asks if asset mapping is complete
Dinowitz says communication between DOE, principals, teachers, and families needs work. He asks if DOE has completed asset mapping. Cheng says DOE has a robust sense of existing practices including Future Ready, affinity partners, and consortium schools.
I think the communication between you guys, the principals, the teachers, the families needs a lot of work.
And the reason I say that is because
I have lists of pages and pages of notes from the various groups of principals that I've met with.
And they don't know a lot of what seems to be the basic.
Even though you've gone over the timeline with them, I think the same basic question of what it looks like in practice is not answered.
I want to ask about the assets.
At this point in the year, it seems to me that the asset mapping should have been done.
Is your asset mapping of all your schools done?
Or are you continually, is that ongoing?
So what we do have is that we have a robust sense of the landscape of the different kinds of practices that our schools are already doing.
I know you don't want me to repeat all the different ways that this work is already happening.
We have our 190 future-ready NYC schools.
We have 150-plus schools that are part of one of our affinity partnerships that have been doing this work.
We've got our consortium schools that are in our network.
So that is one key.
part of the asset mapping.
I do think we also want to make sure that we're taking into consideration what is the size of the school, what is the teacher capacity, and how we can work with that particular community and that need to be able to help support them.
