Erwin Guato describes portfolio presentations and interest in economics
Erwin Guato, 18, from Ecuador, attends Pan American International High School at Monroe. He describes a social studies portfolio on vaping and says presentations helped him communicate and prepare for college and career.
Good afternoon.
My name is Erwin.
I'm 18 years old.
I'm from Ecuador.
And I have lived in the United States for two years.
I go to Pan American International High School at Monroe.
What I like most about my school is the way the teacher helps us learn.
They support us and make sure we understand our work.
I also like that my school prepares us for our future.
They help us think about college and what we want to do after high school.
After I graduate from high school, I want to go to college and study economic or engineering.
My school gave me the opportunity to take a course at BNCC, where I learned about how to communicate effectively in the world of international business, and that made me interested in learning about economics.
I want to learn more, improve my skills, and have a good career in the future.
One school experience that has helped me a lot is doing presentations for our portfolios.
These presentations have helped me feel more
comfortable speaking in front of other people.
This is important because I will need this skill for college, job interviews, and my future career.
One example is my social studies pivot, which was very interesting because it was about the harmful effects of vaping on young people's life.
It helped me learn more about the risks of vaping and its effect on young people.
When we make our portfolios, we choose a topic, do we share, organize our information, and present it to other people.
From this experience, I have learned how to communicate better, organize my ideas, and speak with more confidence.
I have also learned how to connect what I am learning in school to real life and our society.
Thank you.
Gracias.
Lo mismo.
Perfecto inglés.
It's just so impressive.
I'm like really taken by it.
Thank you for your testimony.
Thank you.
