Q&A

Brewer asks whether new landlords are participating in CityFHEPS

New York City Council · Sep 22, 2026 · starts 1:23:43 · 1 min 6 sec

Brewer asks whether DSS is finding new owners willing to rent to voucher holders or relying on the same landlords. French says DSS is always trying to expand the landlord universe and can follow up with data on new participating owners.

Gale A. Brewer

One more question.

Gale A. Brewer

Are you finding that there are more owners?

Andrea Reed

I'm sorry, I just wanted to add that we rolled out the six-month time frame in May, so we will just be coming up on the first sort of six-month cycle, so we should see it.

Andrea Reed

It should not be so bumpy.

Gale A. Brewer

Are there new owners that you're finding that are willing to rent, or you still have to go back to the same?

Gale A. Brewer

persons, although you have new buildings, I understand that, but there aren't that many new buildings for the incomes that you're looking for, if I may suggest that.

Gale A. Brewer

But are there new, you know, private owners that have buildings that are offering their apartments?

Gale A. Brewer

Or is it same old?

Scott French

I think we're always open to new coming in, and I think we do see new.

Scott French

We could get back to you on what we're sort of seeing in the data.

Scott French

I don't know, Andrea, if there's anything there, but it's not just the same old, and we are definitely always trying to expand the universe of landlords to partner with us.

Gale A. Brewer

Okay.

Gale A. Brewer

All right.
