Diamond criticizes administration's transitory-versus-substantive testimony
Diamond calls the administration's testimony torturous and its circular logic on transitory versus substantive bewildering, says government business cannot be done on non-approved channels like Signal, questions who approved the app download, and supports Council Member Morano's suggestion of subpoenas.
Turning quickly to the process angle, I found the testimony of the administration here before, I mean, torturous to an extreme.
That circular logic behind transitory and substantive, I think was, again, any of us who have worked in the city were bewildered.
What are you telling me?
This is the opposite of everything I've heard.
Let's be very clear.
We all know that you can't do government business on non-approved channels.
Signal was not approved.
I'd like to give another example.
You can't normally download apps on your phone without IT approving it.
Who approved this downloaded app?
Or was it on a private phone?
Was someone ordered to allow that app to be put on there?
Councilmember Moreno spoke about subpoenas.
I think it's extremely appropriate in this case because, unfortunately, mistakes happen.
New people in the city government might not fully get a policy.
I get that.
But when you go that defensive,
and you try and pretend that it was okay, it only raises more and more questions.
I'll leave it at that.
Thank you.
Thank you.
