Q&A

Council Member Joseph asks about future audits and lessons learned

New York City Council · Sep 22, 2026 · starts 0:56:58 · 47 sec

Council Member Joseph asks whether the administration will conduct a similar audit or review in the future to learn lessons. Ali says there may not be a formal audit but the city has ongoing conversations with impacted people and service providers to pivot as needed.

Rita C. Joseph

Will the administration conduct an audit or review of similar scope in the future?

Faiza Ali

Audit as it relates to...

Rita C. Joseph

My previous question.

Rita C. Joseph

Is there going to be an audit?

Rita C. Joseph

Are you going to look at this?

Rita C. Joseph

There has to be less than...

Rita C. Joseph

learn, right?

Rita C. Joseph

We don't just do policy to do policy.

Rita C. Joseph

There is lessons to be learned.

Faiza Ali

That is absolutely true.

Faiza Ali

And I think that part, I don't know if it's a form of a formal audit, but these are ongoing conversations that we have with people who are most impacted on the ground and the service providers.

Faiza Ali

They know what works and what does not work.

Faiza Ali

And if we need to pivot to other protections and other things that we need to offer families who are experiencing a loss of protection.

Rita C. Joseph

Absolutely.

Rita C. Joseph

Thank you.

Faiza Ali

And I know, Councilmember, you will hold us accountable to that as well.

Rita C. Joseph

No doubt.

Faiza Ali

As you should.
