Cabán and Davidoff discuss what connectedness means for trans youth
Cabán asks Davidoff to flesh out the idea of connectedness. Davidoff says it means being seen and affirmed in gender identity and pronouns, and that affirmation and support are central to connectedness.
Can you go into, can you flesh out those, that sort of definition of connectedness for folks?
Yeah, I mean, I think that the definition of connectedness is tied into the idea of affirmation and support.
So it's being seen for who you are, the gender identity that you are choosing to present as, the pronouns you're choosing to use, that those are all affirmed and supported.
And that's a critical part, I think, of that connectedness factor.
Yeah, I mean, obviously there's a large scope of what parental responsibility looks like and how.
children, even when we're adults, because we still carry that.
parent relationship trauma around like, you know, differences between being fed and housed and being emotionally supported and seen and understood, et cetera, et cetera.
So thank you for fleshing that out.
I appreciate it.
