Farías questions city call/text line and language access after care disruption
Staff swears in another witness who cites the $15 million investment's call and text line as a backstop linking New Yorkers to care. Farías asks for concrete steps and bilingual aftercare; Brown says city language access rules would require that.
We're just going to swear you in before you contribute.
Please raise your right hand.
Do you affirm to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth before these committees and to respond honestly to council member questions?
Yes.
Okay, you may answer.
All right.
In addition to what...
The director shared is that, you know, we're also really excited to be utilizing a portion of the $15 million investment to launch the call and text line to act as an appropriate and as an important backstop for New Yorkers
to link them to care services and information and resources related to gender affirming care.
Okay, so I guess I'll follow up after the hearing.
I just kind of want to better understand what are the actual steps.
I mean, we do a lot of this throughout the city of New York, depending on what agency it is, and I'd like to know what the steps that we have in place to ensure that that care is underway and actually being performed.
