Wilson asks H&H to notify Council of policy changes while protecting privacy

New York City Council · Sep 23, 2026 · starts 1:14:18 · 53 sec

Wilson asks whether H&H will notify the Council of significant policy changes affecting equitable access without unnecessary clinical detail. Wallach emphasizes HIPAA, patient rights, annual compliance training, and following law on release of information.

Carl Wilson

I guess I would just say, can H&H commit to notifying the council of any significant policy changes affecting equitable access in a manner that protects patient privacy and avoids unnecessary clinical or operational detail?

Andrew Wallach

Yeah, so again, privacy and patient rights is critical to health care.

Andrew Wallach

It is a partnership between the patient and the care team.

Andrew Wallach

And so we certainly adhere to all regulations and rules, specifically HIPAA, and do everything we can within the bounds of the law as far as release of information.

Andrew Wallach

So it is something that we take very seriously.

Andrew Wallach

As a member of the health and hospitals community, we have annual compliance update that all staff members must go through in addition to the trainings.

Andrew Wallach

So this is something that is very near and dear and important to us.
