Restler asks Khan for breakdown of certified MWBE demographics
Restler asks for the percentage of certified MWBEs that are Black, Latino, Asian, and white women. Khan says African-American firms are 33%, Asian 23%, Hispanic 19%, white women 26%, and women overall are 55% of the program.
Thank you both for, I think, totally spot on questions that I really strongly, strongly agree with the line of questioning and the points that you were both making.
So thank you for making them so persuasively.
I just want to come back to what Councilmember Frias was asking about Mr.
Khan.
Just want to make sure that I understand it.
So you're telling us that from
the total number of certified MWBEs, could you just break down what percentage is black, what percentage is Latino, what percentage is Asian, what percentage is white women?
So it's 33% as African American, 28% women-owned business.
We can get you the breakdown of the subgroup data.
It's all quarterly reported to the council as well, and it's all public information.
And Max also maintains a indicators page on their website where it's updated.
I guess it's just the data I'm looking at is different, so that's why I'm confused.
So it fluctuates year to year.
Got it.
There's recertifications, there's certifications.
The controller might be looking at FY25.
I did want to note that...
Can you give me the number on Latinos?
So we have an FY26, I think I do have the numbers now.
We've got Asian firms at 23%, black firms at 33%, Hispanic firms at 19%.
And then we have white women firms at 26%.
Got it.
Women form 55% of the full program.
