Chair asks about Rodriguez distress timeline, JAR review, and investigating agencies
Brooks-Powers asks when Rodriguez went into distress and what policies are being reviewed. Otonichar cites patient privacy and ongoing joint assessment review, while Boyd says the State Attorney General's Office, DOI, and Board of Correction are investigating.
Do you know when he went into distress?
We know when he passed, but do we know approximately the time he went into distress?
So we wouldn't be able to speak about any particular patient case here.
I will say, you know, the department works with all of the various oversight bodies, reports the death.
We do our own processes internally, including a joint assessment review, a JAR, that's joint with the department.
We review under our own mortality and morbidity review committees, the New York City Board of Directors, Health and Hospitals Board of Directors also reviews.
But because of patient privacy concerns I'm not able to discuss publicly.
Can you share what was done?
Once he was found in distress.
I think those conversations are still ongoing with the department and under investigation.
I will say there is a Board of Correction report that ultimately will come out and that will provide more information.
When will that report be out?
I would defer to BOC, Board of Correction.
Are any policies at Bellevue being evaluated as a result of Mr.
Rodriguez's death?
Part of the JAR, the Joint Assessment and Review, is examining any policies, procedures that may have played a role.
I think it's, again, premature now, but that could be a corrective action following a patient death.
And to your point with the JAR, which people or what entities are involved in investigating Mr.
Rodriguez's death?
For investigation, I mean.
Yeah, that's the State Attorney General's Office, the Department of Investigation, as well as the Board of Correction.
