Chair asks how CHS staffs mental observation and PACE units
Brooks-Powers asks how CHS staff interface with mental observation units and how PACE units are staffed. Otonichar says MO units receive on-site services, regular rounding, groups, and medication, while PACE units have multidisciplinary teams including psychiatric providers, clinicians, nurses, treatment aides, and social workers.
Can you explain how CHS staff interface with mental observation units?
Like how they do want to talk about.
Well, yeah.
So our staff, like all of our mental health therapeutic housing units, provide services on site on the mental observation units.
We do regular rounding on those units to check in on all the patients, and we have a higher frequency of visits that we see patients for clinical services.
We also offer groups therapeutically directly on site on our mental observation units.
Medication as well as provided on site to those patients.
Thank you.
And can you explain how PACE units are staffed?
Yeah, so we have a very robust multidisciplinary team on our PACE units.
That includes a psychiatric provider, mental health clinician, clinical supervisor, nursing staff, treatment aides, and discharge planning social workers who work together, meet regularly to talk about the care of each of the patients.
